Kanchanaburi
Kanchanaburi in west Thailand, is located where the Kwai Noi and
Kwai Yai rivers meet the Mae Klong river. Here in 1942, while under
Japanese control, the famous Bridge on the River Kwai was built
by Prisoners Of War. This is a haunting place to visit at any time
of the year, very peaceful. |
Chiang
Mai
Chiang Mai on the Ping river, surrounded by lush forrest is a relitevely
modern city, offering many attractions for tourists who come to
the city each year. Chiang Mai's historic strength is derived from
its ancient trade route,as it was an important centre for handcrafted
goods, umbrellas, jewellery and woodcarving. Chiang Mai has over
300 Buddhist temples including: Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Suan Dok, Wat
Phrathat Doi Suthep, Wat U-Mong and Wiang Kum Kam. The area also
offers great trekking between the villages of hill tribes such as
the Lahu and Karen, as well as elephant safaris and rafting trips.

island, as this was the setting for the movie. Relax on the sand,
bake in the sun or grab your snorkel and swim with tropical fish,
this is a postcard paradise. |
Bangkok
