As the Solar
System, astronomy, outer space, nature and the environment, and
technology are part of reality and human ways of life, the Science
Centre was established for the purpose of educating the youth
and the general public in these subjects. Here can be found multimedia
presentations, exhibits of models and real objects, and educational
processes giving experience with various activities at every opportunity.
+ Bangkok Planetarium : Shows programmes divided into two parts
: showing of stars in the sky between twilight and down, and multi-vision
slide shows for which the programme changes every month. Science
and Technology Building : This has a permanent exhibition on four
floors about the bases of himan life. Nature and Environment Building
: This has permanent exhibitions using diverse and modern media.
Underwater World Building : Shows the evolution of aquatic animals
and many species of beautiful fish. Exhibition of Sports Science
: Display the importance of our bodies, the history of sports
science, knowledge of exercise and tests of the body's capabilities.

The history
of the National Museum Bangkok dates back to 1874 when His Majesty,
King Rama V opened the first public "museum" to exhibit the royal
collection of King Rama IV, and other objects of general interest,
at the Concordia Pavilion inside the Brand Palace. Later, the
Museum was transferred to its present site, the "Wang Na", or
"Palace to the Front" which had been the palace of the Prince
Successor. In 1926, it was named the "Bangkok Museum" and subsequently
developed into the National Museum Bangkok, when it came under
the direction of the Department of Fine Arts in 1934.

The War Museum
is one of two war museums about the Death Railway built in 1942/1943.
It is located approx. 300m from The Bridge on the River Kwai in
Kanchanaburi and includes a prehistoric view of the province.
The JEATH War Museum is located in the grounds of a temple at
the junction of the Kwai Yai and Kwai Noi Rivers. The JEATH War
Museum is open daily from 08:30 to 18:00

The Jim Thompson
House is the home of James H.W. Thompson, a self-made American
entrepreneur who was the founder of the world renowned Jim Thompson
Thai Silk Company. For his contribution to the development of
the Thai Silk industry, Jim Thompson was awarded the Order of
the White Elephant, a decoration bestowed upon foreigners for
having rendered exceptional service to Thailand. In 1967, Jim
Thompson went on holiday with friends to the Cameron Highlands
in Malaysia. There he set out for a walk in the surrounding jungle
but never returned.
